Hey guys,
Does anyone one know what this line item is suppose to be on the 2017 Ralph 1.5V BOM?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... &range=C15
I wanna buy the parts for 2 carts asap to start cranking on things.
Are there any lessons learned about the "turtle" chassis before I clone it for the ducks?

The original Surplus center tire/wheel/hub assembly is no longer available.
Version 2.0 plans on the following.
Each rear wheel will attach to this hub

I was then planning on putting a 3rd hub in the middle of the axle for the Sprocket and Disc Brake.
However an alternative option would be to run.

This allows for direct mounting of a sprocket and disc brake to the wheel, while still allowing an off the shelf solution. This will however require an adapter from the wheel bolt circle, to whichever sprocket and or disc you use.
The pricing in the end isn't too much different, however the quality is much better on either of these solutions.

Day 1:
Chassis #1
I spent an hour or so welding up the frame of the first chassis.
Started with 2 - 6' 1"x1" tub from Lowe's and was able to cut the 44"
side rails and the 17" cross beams.
Tacked one corner together at a time. Used magnets to hold them at 90*

Went around one corner at a time.

Once I welded all four side on all the corners, it looks good next to the Joker Chassis

All in all the frame came out surprisingly sqaure with my table not being flat.
Day 2 may happen in a week or so when the front steering assembly parts come in.

Looks real good. What are you using to cut your steel? I need to move up from angle grinder, and my plasma cutting is still a little dirty.

Honestly not the best thing in the world...
A Harbor Frieght 10" Chop Saw (~$118)
https://www.harborfreight.com/10-in-sli ... 61971.html
And one of these blades from amazon. (~$11)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052 ... UTF8&psc=1
The sketch part comes in when the saw sticks when you try and lower it or when you have to push down REALLY hard to cut that last 1/4" of material in the corner.
I got this chopsaw to start with wood with the idea of maybe metal. If I were gonna buy again, I would look for something purpose built for metal.
The blade is workin great and the saw hasn't died yet. I cut all of the metal for my welding table and this frame on it. Can't be
that bad.

Yeah, when we did the original 5 karts, we used the 14" Harbor Freight Chop Saw. It did alright, I didn't like the flex though.
I just bought one of these, and am excited to see how it does.

Suppose to do steel, aluminum, wood and plastic all on the same blade. We shall see!
